BASED ON TRUE LIFE EVENTS AS SEEN ON:

SOME OTHER SON, ESCAPING THE FOSTER CARE SYSTEM

There were 3.3 Million reports of some form of child abuse in 2012 resulting in 251,764 youth placed with Foster Families.  The "system" promised to provide children with a foster family, a home and safety. That same year, 23,439 youth emancipated (aged out) from foster care. In other words, they were never reunited with their families during the custody of the foster care system.
Statistically, of those who age-out, one in five will become homeless, only half will be employed at age 24, less than three percent will earn a college degree, seventy-one percent of women will become pregnant by age 21, and one in four will experience PTSD.
